Project aims

  • To help human resources management to understand the benefits of employing an age-diverse workforce
  • To develop an interactive e-learning age management course for use by HR staff and management
  • To raise awareness of the role and contribution of older people in companies
  • To encourage companies to retain older workers as a main source of experience and knowledge.

Who can benefit?

HR staff and top management within employing organisations including private and public companies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

The manAGE e-learning course can facilitate the acquisition of essential knowledge and approaches to achieve a diverse age structure within companies.

Why age diversity?

There are many reasons for introducing age management policies:

  • older workers provide a wide variety of skills and different outlooks
  • older employees pass on their experience to younger colleagues
  • retaining older workers avoids the expensive loss of skills
  • recruiting older people can improve the corporate identity of the organisation
  • diverse teams are better able to respond to the rapidly changing circumstances associated with globalisation
  • in certain age-sensitive trades and companies older workers can respond more readily to changing customer wishes and needs.
