Life Academy has joined with the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) to promote their MSc in Mid-Life, Pre-Retirement and Life Planning programme to CII members.
Validated by the University of Surrey, the programme is the only Postgraduate qualification of its kind in the UK. It offers students:
- an understanding of the global nature of work and how this impacts on retention, work exit, retirement and the life course
- an awareness of the life course, its underpinning theory and the process of managing change
- knowledge and understanding of how adults learn, relevant issues and contexts, and be able to apply theoretical understanding to the practice of life planning
- knowledge and understanding of relevant research methods and be able to apply them to practice.
The programme has been recognised by CII as a natural progression for Chartered Financial Planners who wish to broaden their knowledge and skills so they can offer more holistic retirement and financial planning to their key clients.
Bob Bullivant, Deputy Director General of the CII says: “We are very excited to be involved with such an innovative degree which will give depth to the advice financial planners offer. The course is ideal for busy people – they can work at their own pace over one year to complete each stage – and the programme is distance learning supported by face to face sessions, tutor and electronic support.”
Alan Pickering, Chairman of Life Academy added: “This is a wonderful initiative coming at a time when financial planners and their customers are facing unprecedented challenges. People of all ages are having to take greater control of their financial and personal destinies – no longer can we plan our life paths at sixteen and let momentum do the rest. This course will help financial planners guide their clients through a sensitive maze in a truly holistic fashion.”
