Life Academy has joined forces with the Oddfellows to offer a one-stop-shop package of pre-retirement education and post-retirement support and benefits that organisations can provide for their employees and pensioner members.
The service brings together Life Academy’s expertise in retirement planning and pre-retirement education with the Oddfellows. The Oddfellows is one of the oldest and largest friendly societies with over 100,000 members and a network of more than 200 Branches nationwide. It is a not-for-profit organisation with expertise of running a large membership. It offers an established social branch network, providing volunteering, social events and a travel club to help ensure that retired members enjoy an active and inclusive retirement. Oddfellows also offer access to expert advice on care and health issues and a dedicated Citizens Advice Bureau telephone helpline.
Stuart Royston said of the new service: ‘We are very excited about this new venture with the Oddfellows and have had some very positive feedback from testing the concept. It offers the marketplace something different. The package of benefits will equip individuals with the skills to plan for life changes, provide support and advice on consumer, care and financial matters and give them access to an active social network. All of which are very important to help individuals have a happy and healthy life. The new service takes a holistic approach to employee’s welfare - both in planning for retirement and from post-retirement onwards.
The changes to company pensions are weakening the link between the former employee and his old employer. Furthermore, for some employers there is pressure on the Pensioner Welfare Manager because of reducing resources. Our new concept can help these types of situations’.
