FREE Tax Workshops for Voluntary Sector

Voluntary Sector Tax Advisors to pre-pensioners and pensioners are invited to participate in Free Tax Workshops. The 2009/10 workshops are funded by HMRC - funding which is anticipated to cease from 31st March 2010.

The Tax Workshops have been running for three years and are targetted to voluntary advisors on tax issues to pre-pensioners and pensioners. The Tax Workshops provide training and support to advisors to increase their understanding of tax and wider financial issues so that they can effectively support their end customers, including vulnerable people.

From evaluation of the 2007/08 workshops, Life Academy was able to demonstrate that before the workshop only 26 per cent of participants had a good or very good understanding of tax issues whereas after the workshop this had increased to 86 per cent. Similarly, before the workshop 22 per cent were good or very good at providing information and guidance on tax matters and this increased to 85 per cent after the workshop.
