MSc Core Module1 Commences March 2009

The New Year is often a time for personal reflection and planning for the year ahead. This year, why not consider increasing your knowledge of mid-life, pre-retirement and life planning by undertaking a professional qualification. Employers may also consider utilising the programme as part of their ongoing staff development.

Life Academy offers the only postgraduate programme on Mid-Life, Pre-Retirement and Life Planning in the UK.

The distance learning courses have been designed to meet the needs of individuals from a variety of backgrounds, for example: human resources, health, education and financial services and to be flexible and practical for students to study.

The MSc is made up of three parts as follows: the Postgraduate Certificate in Life Planning, the Diploma in Life Planning and the MSc in Mid-Life, Pre-Retirement and Life Planning. You can choose to study just the Certificate, the Certificate and Diploma or continue to further your qualifications with the MSc dissertation.

Employers who wish to utilise the programme may use specific single modules that are particularly relevant for their staff. Alternatively they may want to encourage and support their staff to complete the modules necessary to gain a Postgraduate qualification.

Entrants to the Postgraduate programme need to demonstrate that they can work at Postgraduate level.

The Postgraduate Certificate consists of three core modules. The first core module covers the Theories of Life Planning. This introductory module is delivered partly face to face, 2 days, and partly by distance learning. It aims to set the scene for undertanding life planning in the 21st century and to provide a framework that enables critical assessment of the theories that underpin life planning. Life Academy will run Module 1 in March. If you are interested in applying to take part, places are still available.

Module 2 covers the theory and practice for mid-life and pre-retirement education and Module 3 covers managing change, transition and diversity during the adult lifespan.
