Alan Pickering Welcomes New Trustees to the Board of Life Academy

The educational charity Life Academy has appointed three new trustees to join their Board of Trustees – Penny Green, Alison Munro and Simon Baynes.

Penny Green is currently Chief Executive of SAUL Trustee Company – trustee for the non-academic staff pension scheme of the University of London. The scheme has over 25,000 members and over £1bn in assets.

Penny was until recently President of the Pensions Management Institute and sits on the Institute’s Council. She was a member of the London Region PMI group, holding the posts of Treasurer and Membership Secretary and is a former Chair of the NAPF Multi-Employer Scheme Forum and a former TPAS adviser.

Alison Munro has worked in two very different organisations. She spent over 20 years with the systems’ company LogicaCMG, working with international banks and financial institutions before leaving in 2003 to become a Vice-Principal at Morley College in South London. Morley is an Adult Education College which has 15,000 part-time students of all ages and backgrounds. Alison has particular responsibility for the college’s support and information systems and for audit and risk management.

Alison is also a Trustee of LogicaCMG’s Pension Scheme. The Scheme has a large number of deferred members and the company likes to ensure that one of its trustees is also a deferred member. She is an active trustee and has recently chaired a sub-committee on the Governance of the scheme.

Simon Baynes has been a Trustee for the LogicaCMG DC Pension Scheme for 10 years. Established in 1975, this has become a flagship scheme of its type. In 2002 Simon became Chairman of Trustees. In addition to his work as a Trustee, he is LogicaCMG’s Corporate Pensions Advisor, being involved in schemes in some 14 countries during 2006.

Alan Pickering, Chairman of the Life Academy Trustee Board, welcomed the three new Trustees and said:

“I’m really excited to appoint Penny, Alison and Simon to the Life Academy Board. They each bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience that I know will be of great value to our charity.”

He continued:

“We are aiming to make Life Academy a household name for tackling contemporary financial and life planning issues. Our three new Trustees will help us to achieve this goal within the 5 year target that we set late last year. I’d like to take this opportunity to wish them a very warm welcome.”
