We are delighted to inform you that we have two successes from the Pensions Education Fund bids.
You may remember, the DWP launched this initiative with the aim of increasing financial awareness among working people - both employees and the self employed - to help them make better plans for their retirement.
The PRA (as we were then) submitted 5 of our own bids and were the significant partner in another.
The first success is for a direct Life Academy bid: 'A Call to Action - Integrating Retirement, Work and Money' in which we will develop and deliver via 8 workshops a tailored life planning programme aimed at those in their early 50's that will:
- raise awareness of the changing nature of retirement
- raise awareness of pension issues (based on the Pensions Commission conclusions)
- provide financial education to improve financial capability and the ability to engage in financial planning
- invite workshop participants to identify gaps in their preparation for retirement and identify ways to meet the needs
- motivate participants to take action to adopt realistic aspirations and achieve them.
The second success is via a bid submitted by The Royal Bath and West of England Society where we are the significant partner. The purpose of the bid is to increase financial capability and retirement planning in the agricultural and horticultural sectors in the South West. Our role will be to:
- identify the particular training needs of the sectors
- design and run 20 one day workshops and prepare any bespoke materials
- provide mentor support to workshop participants in an attempt to support positive action on their part towards retirement planning.
Work starts now and will continue over the next 2 years for both bids. We’ll keep you updated with our progress over the coming months.
