Module 7 - Health Promotion and Older People
Aims and Learning Outcomes The aim of this module is:
- to extend and develop the contribution health promotion can make to the lives of older people
- to identify the factors which influence the health of older people and strategies for health promotion.
By the end of the module students will be able to: - distinguish between health education, health promotion and health prevention
- recognise the contribution of statistical information and other means to determine health needs
- identify personal and professional styles of working in health promotion
- appreciate and apply to practice health promotion models and theories
- design, evaluate a health promotion strategy
Programme of Study / Course Content - To review the factors which influence the health of older people
- To identify health promotion strategies which can influence health status of older people
- To discuss socio-political implications of health promoting approaches
- To undertake a health promotion planning strategy
